Elizabeth also has years of experience working in an emergency room and occasionally takes assignments in the emergency department when possible.
“One of my favorite assignments was at Gila Medical Center in Silver City, N.M. It has an excellent labor and delivery and women’s services unit. The people welcomed me with open arms, and I became part of their staff immediately,” Elizabeth says. “I can proudly say I was asked to go back there the following summer, which I accepted, and was there with an extension for five months. I still keep in touch with several of the staff members to this day.”
Elizabeth notes that Gila Medical Center was a great place to work and was very modern and receptive to travelers.
“This was a convenient site for an assignment, as my husband and I used it as a starting point base to travel and sightsee the southwestern part of the country,” Elizabeth says. “We saw places we had never seen before and most likely would not have ever been able to get to. I have made friends for life!”
The experiences Elizabeth has had as a travel nurse make the assignments even more exciting.
“I get the opportunity to meet people from all over the country, learn cooking styles and adapt to different environments,” Elizabeth expresses. “I also see parts of the country I normally would not be able to see and enjoy and take in all there is to offer in a location.”
