Best Holiday Gifts for Nurses

nurse holiday giftsHoliday shopping can be stressful, so why not simplify your list where you can? If you’re looking for the perfect present for a nurse in your life — or giving someone ideas for your wish list — a few suggestions can put you on the right track. Here are some great holiday gifts for nurses.

Fitness tracker

Nurses walk a lot and don’t have much downtime on their shifts. Encourage them to keep track of their steps and see just how far they’ve walked in a day with a fitness tracker.

While FitBits are a popular option and track steps, heartbeat, calories burned and even sleep patterns, Garmin also makes bands that are water-resistant and have a built-in GPS. Misfit and Jawbone have great options as well, so research trackers to see which one fits your friend or family member’s lifestyle best.

Does the nurse you’re shopping for already have a fitness tracker? No problem. Buy new interchangeable bands for the model he or she owns; FitBit also offers metal bands for its Alta tracker if you want a sleeker look.

Tablet

Once you’ve been walking around for 12 hours straight, you just want to sleep or put your feet up and relax. With a tablet, you can read e-books, scroll through social media, watch TV shows and movies, and shop online. Some models even let you make detailed drawings with a stylus if you prefer to unwind through art. Consider what the nurse you’re shopping for will use the tablet for most, since prices vary significantly.

App store gift cards are another option if your friend already has a tablet, as are new cases or accessories.

Massage gift certificate

When’s the last time the nurse you’re shopping for took care of herself? Pamper her with a massage gift certificate or a spa day. If you want to go simpler, think about a manicure or pedicure gift card or even a nice body scrub and lotion.

Streaming subscription

One of the simplest ways to surprise someone is to give them a gift that’s completely personalizable. A streaming service lets nurses choose which TV shows, movies and music they want to watch and listen to. Netflix and Hulu Plus are popular options, and Amazon Prime also offers free streaming in addition to free two-day shipping.

Meal services

Sometimes the last thing on a nurse’s mind is preparing lunch or dinner — and when he does think about and make something, it’s not always healthy. Even a month subscription to a meal service like HelloFresh or Blue Apron can save a nurse a ton of time and make sure he or she remembers to eat.

Want to stay local? Consider a subscription to an agricultural cooperative, which delivers local produce, meat and dairy every week or so.

While it might not be as simple to shop for your kids or your grandparents, this list will hopefully help you find a gift to make a nurse very happy. Or, if you’re a nurse yourself, you’ve got plenty of ideas — and there’s still a little time to hit the store.
