Recipe: Apple Crisp

Apple crispThere’s nothing as American as apple pie — but making and rolling out your own pie crust can be time-consuming. Save a couple hours by making this apple crisp instead. A garnish of whipped cream or vanilla ice cream is all you need to add for the perfect dessert!

Here’s what you need:

  • 10 cups all-purpose apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ cup butter, melted

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and place the sliced apples in a 9×13-inch pan. Mix the white sugar, tablespoon of flour and cinnamon together, and sprinkle it over the apples. Pour water evenly over the mixture.

Combine the oats, cup of flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda and butter together, and crumble it evenly over the apple mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
