Five Reasons to Book a Return Travel Assignment

Return travel nurse assignmentYou escaped Michigan’s frigid winter with a travel nurse assignment at a hospital in Florida and loved the experience — so why not head back there this December? Booking return travel assignments can be great for both you and the facility. Check out five benefits below:

Seeing familiar faces. While a few of the staff members may be new, chances are you’ll remember most of the other nurses and doctors, and they’ll remember you. A return assignment is a chance for you to reconnect with coworkers you’ve missed; it also means that you’ll have an easier time jumping into your work because you’re familiar with the staff and have built trust with them already.

Minimal licensing and credentialing. Since you’ve already obtained a license to work in the state where your return assignment is, the credentialing process should be much simpler. Depending on the length between your assignments, you may also be able to streamline the facility’s orientation process or simply be instructed on new procedures that began while you were gone.

Accommodating housing options. If you loved your last apartment because it was pet-friendly, you can most likely talk to your recruiter about staying there again. Some travelers also take a housing allowance instead and rent apartments month to month so they don’t have to pack everything up between assignments. Another benefit of returning to the area is that you can become familiar with different parts of town and try new apartments or houses there should you want a change.

Exploring a corner of the country. Since you’ve been to this area before, you’ll be familiar with the nearby highways and roads and have a better idea of which tourist attractions are worth visiting. A three-month assignment allows you to explore nearby beaches or forests, state parks and other landmarks on the weekends. You can also try various restaurants in town and check out historic homes and buildings when you don’t have enough time for a day trip.

Getting involved in the community. Working a return assignment allows you to connect more with the residents there and become involved in various events. Whether you want to volunteer at a homeless shelter or animal shelter, head up library fundraisers or support local sports teams, a second job here gives you more time to help the people you’ve grown to love.
