Nurse life

9 Reasons to Love Nurses this Valentine’s Day (in GIFs)

We often think Valentine’s Day is all about love between partners and people in relationships, but it’s much more than that. Valentine’s Day is all about appreciating love in all its forms, and nurses show love every day at their jobs. Here are eight reasons (in GIFs) to love nurses this year.

1. They are your number-one fans

Nurses are great at making each patient feel like he or she is special. They focus on patients individually, and the best nurses make each patient feel extremely important. So do the best Valentine’s Day dates!

2. They make sure you have what you need

Most Valentine’s dates might get you flowers and chocolate or a nice dinner. Nurses can’t quite do that, but they do bring you medicine, food, and extra blankets and pillows. They also help you understand how to take care of yourself and get better.

3. They make your day special

We all want to have an extra special Valentine’s Day, but nurses are good at making every day special. Even though being in a hospital or clinic can be hard, nurses provide cheer with decorations, jokes and positivity. They help you see how every day can be exciting.

4. They give the perfect hugs

There’s nothing like a nice hug from a loved one, and nurses are no exception! Even though you don’t know them nearly as well as family and friends, nurses know when a patient might need a hug. They’re there to cheer you up, and they’re practically expert hug givers.

5. They care about you

Nurses want the best for you, and your concerns are their concerns. Valentine’s dates just want to make their date happy, and they know just what to do to make that happen. The same goes for nurses!

6. They’re here to support you

Nurses always want to see their patients succeed, and they’ll provide whatever they need to get better. A nurse is there for his or her patients when they’re sad — or when they’re celebrating.

7. They make you laugh

A Valentine’s date can be perfectly romantic, but what’s the point of a date without lots of laughing and fun? Nurses are good at cheering up their patients and their coworkers. Working in the medical field can be hard, but great nurses make work fun for everyone.

8. They listen to you

Your valentine should always listen to you, and you should always listen to him or her. Nurses are great at communicating with everyone around them, and patients can trust that nurses will give them their full attention.

9. They’re not afraid of anything

Nurses have to deal with a lot of heavy stuff — after all, they’re with patients at some of the toughest times in their lives. But that doesn’t mean they back down! Instead, they’re incredibly strong, even in the toughest situation.
